Columbia, MO – In a shocking turn of events, a local man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison without parole for his role in a large-scale methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.
Ronald Dale Thornton, III, 35, of Columbia, Missouri, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine in federal court. The charges stem from a search warrant executed by the Columbia Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on March 19, 2024.
During the search, police recovered 50 packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 50 pounds, along with $24,957 in U.S. currency. Thornton was present at the residence when the search warrant was served, along with other individuals.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Lynn, who has a proven track record of taking down high-profile drug trafficking cases. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Columbia Police Department and the DEA.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating the scourge of illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations. The operation has been instrumental in protecting communities from violent crime.
