Hartford Man Admits to Child Pornography Charges, Faces 15 Years in Prison
A 51-year-old Hartford man has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography, an offense that carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years.
Ronald Daniel, 51, of Hartford, Connecticut, pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography in U.S. District Court, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.
The crime occurred in 2018, when Daniel sexually abused a prepubescent female and took cellphone photos of the abuse. He also distributed some of these images, as well as other images and videos of child pornography, through the Kik mobile application.
Daniel’s Kik username was “letsgogetluv.” He has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on June 10, 2019.
U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley scheduled sentencing for May 24, 2021. At that time, Daniel faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 30 years.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Connecticut State Police, and the Vernon Police Department.
This prosecution is part of the U.S. government’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which aims to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
