A Memphis man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a marijuana trafficking operation.
Ronald Freeman, 39, was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for distribution of marijuana and using a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Sheryl H. Lipman on July 9, 2021.
Freeman was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) as part of Operation LeGend, an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime in Memphis.
Between August 2020 and September 2020, ATF Special Agents conducted a series of controlled purchases using a confidential informant, resulting in the seizure of two firearms and narcotics from Freeman.
Each transaction was audio and video-recorded and completed under ATF supervision.
Freeman pleaded guilty to the charges on March 24, 2021.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Wendy K. Cornejo prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
