Watervliet Man Pleads Guilty to Marijuana and Firearm Crimes

Albany, NY – In a shocking turn of events, Ronnie Robinson, a 29-year-old resident of Watervliet, New York, has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a felon, possessing and intending to distribute marijuana, and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The crime took place on November 30, 2021, when Robinson was found in possession of approximately 268 grams of marijuana that he intended to distribute. During the investigation, it was discovered that Robinson was also in possession of a firearm, which he used to protect his marijuana, drug proceeds, and his marijuana trafficking business.

Robinson’s history of crime did not go unnoticed. He had been previously convicted of three felonies and was on supervised release for a 2015 conviction for unlawfully possessing a firearm as a felon when he was caught with the marijuana and the firearm in this case.

According to the indictment, Robinson faces a minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a post-imprisonment term of supervised release of at least 2 years and up to life.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dustin C. Segovia and Cyrus P.W. Rieck are prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the FBI, New York State Police, and the United States Probation Office. Sentencing is scheduled for October 26, 2023, before United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby.
