A New Mexico man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a brutal assault that left his victim seriously injured.
Ronnie Tiznado, a 47-year-old Dulce man and enrolled member of the Jicarilla Apache Tribe, pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury in Indian Country. On June 2, 2019, Tiznado threw the victim to the ground and hit her with his fists, causing severe injuries.
The assault took place in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. After his guilty plea on February 27, 2020, Tiznado was sentenced to two years in prison by a federal judge on June 14, 2022.
Upon his release from prison, Tiznado will be subject to three years of supervised release.
The FBI investigated this case with assistance from the Jicarilla Apache Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frederick T. Mendenhall is prosecuting the case.
