Rusty Eugene Duke, a Dallas, Texas resident, has pleaded guilty to participating in a violent crime wave that originated in Texas prisons and spread across the state.
The 36 defendants charged in the Southern District of Texas with racketeering activity through the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT) have all pleaded guilty, capping a six-year effort that has led to 73 convictions across five federal districts.
Duke pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to participate in racketeering activity before U.S. District Judge Sim Lake in the Southern District of Texas on February 22, 2022.
The convictions are a result of a coordinated federal, state, and local law enforcement effort to bring the ABT’s heinous gang activities to justice.
The ABT is a race-based, Texas state-wide organization operating inside and outside of prisons, and its members were charged with involvement in murders, kidnappings, brutal beatings, fire bombings, and drug trafficking.
The ABT’s leadership and violent members and associates have been decimated, and its influence has been significantly reduced.
The convictions will ensure that these gang members, from generals to soldiers, spend their years in federal prison paying for their crimes, not committing new ones.
