Ryan Babcock, Distributing Child Pornography, Oregon 2017

A Prineville man has been sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography, according to a recent sentencing in United States District Court.

Ryan Babcock, 35, was sentenced by Judge Ann Aiken on May 31, 2017, for distribution of child pornography, a crime that has shaken the community.

According to court documents, Oregon State Police received information in 2015 that Babcock was distributing child pornography via email. A search of Babcock’s residence revealed over 600 child pornography images from the internet on his computers and hidden camera recordings taken in Babcock’s bathroom.

The investigation, conducted by the Oregon State Police and the Bend Office of the FBI, revealed that Babcock had installed a hidden camera and videotaped two minor females, both under the age of 12, undressing and taking a bath at his house. Babcock was also seen in the video masturbating while washing one girl’s hair. The victims were unaware of what Babcock was doing.

Babcock’s actions have sparked outrage in the community, and his sentencing serves as a reminder of the severity of distributing child pornography.

The case was investigated by the Oregon State Police and the Bend Office of the FBI, and prosecuted by Amy Potter, Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Oregon, with assistance from the Crook County District Attorney’s Office.
