Kenner Man Pleads Guilty to Arson and Possessing a Destructive Device

A Kenner man has pleaded guilty to federal arson and weapon violations. Ryan Scott, age 39, of Kenner, pleaded guilty to the charges on an undisclosed date.

According to the indictment, Scott committed arson of an apartment building in LaPlace, Louisiana, on August 13, 2017, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 844(i). He also possessed a destructive device in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Section 5861(d) on the same date.

The Court set sentencing in this matter for June 14, 2018. Scott faces, as to count one, a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years of imprisonment, 3 years supervised release after imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and a $100 special assessment.
