Gulfport Businessman Gets 12 Months for Failing to File Tax Return
A Gulfport, Mississippi businessman has been brought to justice for his egregious offense against the United States tax system.
Samuel Frazier, the owner of Frazier Fire Systems LLC and EZ Haul Demolition and Construction LLC, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for failing to file a 2009 individual income tax return.
According to the information provided to the court, Frazier had earned a staggering $618,253.53 in gross income for the year 2009, well above the threshold triggering the requirement to file a tax return. However, he chose to disregard this responsibility, resulting in a tax loss of $210,589 for the years 2007 through 2010.
Aside from the prison term, Frazier was also ordered to serve one year of supervised release and pay restitution in the amount of $210,589 to the IRS.
The sentencing comes after a thorough investigation led by Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) special agents, who first contacted Frazier in 2011 due to his failure to file a tax return since 1997.
Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg commended the special agents of IRS-CI for their diligent work in uncovering this case and bringing Frazier to justice.
Frazier’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to tax laws and the consequences of failing to do so.
