Two Florida residents are facing federal charges after a brazen, gunpoint heist at a Wethersfield bank netted $83,000 in cold cash. Samuel Neathery, 29, and Daisy Feliberty, 35, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Hartford on charges tied to the December 27, 2018, robbery of People’s United Bank on Silas Deane Highway.
According to the indictment, Neathery and Feliberty stormed the bank, firearms drawn, using force, violence, and intimidation to seize the cash. Surveillance footage from the time shows the pair moving quickly and deliberately, threatening employees before fleeing the scene. No one was physically injured during the robbery, but the psychological toll on staff remains unmeasured.
The charges are severe: one count of armed bank robbery, which carries a maximum 25-year prison sentence, and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, which demands a mandatory minimum of seven years behind bars—served consecutively, not concurrently. If convicted, the duo could face decades in federal prison.
Both Neathery and Feliberty are already locked up in South Carolina, awaiting prosecution for a similar incident—the armed robbery of a credit union in Forest Acres on February 5, 2019. Authorities believe the Wethersfield job may be part of a broader crime spree across state lines, with federal investigators piecing together a pattern of coordinated, high-stakes thefts.
John H. Durham, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, emphasized that while the indictment is a major step, it is not a conviction. “An indictment is not evidence of guilt,” Durham stated. “Charges are only allegations, and each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Wethersfield Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Gustafson leading the prosecution. As the legal process unfolds, law enforcement continues to send a clear message: armed robbery in broad daylight won’t be forgotten, no matter how far the suspects run.
