A South Bend man has been sentenced to 140 months in prison for his role in an armed robbery of a liquor store and a cell phone store in June 2021.
Sander Ray, 25, pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
According to documents in the case, Ray committed the armed robbery of a liquor store and then a cell phone store in South Bend, Indiana, in June 2021.
Co-defendant Andre Pittman was previously sentenced for his role in the offense to 121 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the South Bend Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joel Gabrielse.
Ray’s sentence is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
U.S. District Court Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr. handed down the sentence, which includes 140 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.
