In a shocking turn of events, Sara Meza, a 32-year-old resident of El Paso, Texas, was brought to justice for her involvement in a violent crime that shook the community.
The case, known as US v. Meza, was filed on February 4, 2020, in the Texas Western District Federal District Court. Meza was charged with multiple counts, including assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
The charges stemmed from an altercation on September 15, 2019, where Meza allegedly fired a handgun at her boyfriend, causing serious bodily harm. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Following a lengthy investigation by the El Paso Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Meza was taken into custody and charged with the federal crimes. Her trial began on January 20, 2022, and lasted for several weeks.
