Sarah Elizabeth Smith, Sex Trafficking Conspiracy, Alabama 2023

BOSTON – Sarah Elizabeth Smith, 32, of Fall River, Alabama, pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court in Boston to her role in a sex trafficking conspiracy that victimized two minors and one adult.

According to the Department of Justice, the sex trafficking conspiracy involved the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, obtaining, patronizing, and soliciting of a minor for the purpose of a commercial sex act.

Smith, who was 31 at the time of the incident in 2022, admitted to her involvement in the sex trafficking conspiracy, which occurred between 2022 and 2023. She faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison, as well as a fine of up to $250,000 and a period of supervised release of up to life.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Birmingham Field Office and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank M. Sicilian.
