Sarah Jaielyn Carter, Aiding and Abetting Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, West Virginia 2016

A Martinsburg woman has admitted to her role in a drug distribution operation, officials announced.

Sarah Jaielyn Carter, age 26, pled guilty to one count of ‘Aiding and Abetting Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin.’

The crime took place in Berkeley County in November 2016. Carter worked with others to distribute heroin in the area during that time period.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Carter faces up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Carter’s guilty plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble.

Special Assistant U.S. Attorney C. Lydia Lehman, also with the Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

The Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

Carter’s sentencing has not been scheduled yet.
