Schuylkill Co. Man Gets 84 Months for Robbery Plot

SCRANTON – Joshua Marsh, 29, of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, walked into the United States District Court in Scranton today with one thought on his mind: a heavy sentence for his role in an armed home-invasion heist. The court’s response? An 84-month stint behind bars.

Marsh was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion after being convicted of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery. According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Marsh was one of the perpetrators who invaded a Mahanoy City residence on August 30, 2020, robbing its occupants of drug proceeds stored in a lockbox.

The heist was as violent as it was brazen. Marsh and his co-conspirators Joushton Rodriguez and Solomon Rodriguez donned masks and entered the home armed. Joushton Rodriguez, wielding a homemade AR-15 style machinegun, ensured their getaway would be swift. Steven Wong, identified as the ringleader of this conspiracy, along with four other co-conspirators, await sentencing.

The investigation that led to Marsh’s conviction was a massive collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies: the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Pennsylvania State Police, various local police departments, and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence by fostering trust and supporting community-based organizations. Launched in May 2021, PSN has been bolstered with a strategy that focuses on prevention, enforcement priorities, and measuring results.

Marsh’s sentence sends a stern message about the consequences of armed robbery and conspiracy in Schuylkill County. The grimy details of his crime serve as a stark reminder to the community: justice will be served, no matter how brutal or violent the crime.
