Scott Camara, CDL Test Score Falsification, Massachusetts 2024

A Rehoboth man has been found guilty of his role in a conspiracy to falsify Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) test scores in Massachusetts.

Scott Camara, 44, pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to one count of conspiracy to falsify records and one count of perjury.

According to court documents, in October 2021, Camara allegedly conspired with then-Massachusetts State Police (MSP) Sergeant Gary Cederquist to give passing scores to four MSP troopers who had applied for Class A CDLs but did not take the required CDL skills test.

It is alleged that the test takers were given preferential treatment by Cederquist, who falsely reported that each trooper took and passed a Class A skills test.

Camara also pleaded guilty to perjury for false statements made to a federal grand jury in May 2023.

U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani scheduled sentencing for July 21, 2025, where Camara faces up to 20 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 for the charge of conspiracy to falsify records.

Additionally, Camara faces up to five years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 for the charge of perjury.

Camara was charged in a 74-count indictment in January 2024, along with five others in the alleged conspiracy and related schemes.

On April 7, 2025, former Trooper Calvin Butner pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to falsify records, three counts of falsifying records, and five counts of making false statements.

Former Trooper Perry Mendes pleaded guilty on April 14, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to falsify records, three counts of falsifying records, and two counts of making false statements.

Civilian co-defendant Eric Mathison pleaded guilty on March 21, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to commit extortion.
