Former Paramedic Sentenced to Ten Years for Attempting to Entice a Minor

ATLANTA – In a shocking case of child abuse, Scott Driscoll Bailey, a 45-year-old former paramedic from Fayetteville, Georgia, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to entice a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity.

According to court documents, Bailey responded to an advertisement on the internet in August 2015, where a mother claimed she was looking for someone to teach her 9-year-old daughter to have sex. Over the next 10 days, Bailey communicated with the mother, stating he had had numerous sexual encounters with young girls and would bring something powdered to put in the daughter’s drink to relax her.

Agents searched his car and found condoms, lubricant, and a prescription muscle relaxer, which he planned to grind into a powder to give to the child. Bailey had told the undercover agent that he intended to have sex with the child.

U.S. Attorney John Horn stated, ‘Bailey expected to sexually abuse a young girl for his own perverse pleasure. Thankfully, he was caught by the FBI before he could prey on a child.’

J. Britt Johnson, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Atlanta Field Office, added, ‘Today’s sentencing to federal prison will firmly hold Mr. Bailey accountable for his criminal behavior of attempting to prey on a minor child.’

Bailey was convicted on these charges on March 1, 2016, after he pleaded guilty. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
