SHREVEPORT, La. – United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley declared that Scottron Cordell Medlock, 33, of Many, Louisiana, faced a severe punishment for his role in methamphetamine distribution. Last Friday, U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote handed down an 188-month sentence, or 15 years, followed by four years of supervised release.
Medlock’s criminal activities were laid bare on July 24, 2014, when he pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine. According to the evidence presented during his plea hearing, law enforcement caught Medlock selling a chilling 24 grams of the drug for $1,400 in Many. Surveillance footage depicted him expertly consolidating several small bags into a more substantial one before completing the sale.
“Methamphetamine is a dangerous narcotic,” Finley emphasized. “My office, alongside our federal, state, and local partners, are relentless in their pursuit of drug dealers. These cases underscore the vital role collaborative investigations play in combating meth distribution.”
The investigation was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) named “Crystal Bend,” a joint initiative involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies aiming to dismantle criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown handled the prosecution of Medlock’s case, demonstrating the commitment of the justice system to hold such criminals accountable for their actions.
