Sean O’Neil, Firearm Possession, Wyoming 2016

A Cheyenne man is headed to prison for a year and a day after being caught with an unregistered firearm, the latest in a series of convictions for individuals trying to evade the law in Wyoming.

Sean O’Neil, 35, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on June 3, 2016, for possession of a firearm not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. O’Neil received 12 months and one day imprisonment, to be followed by two years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $400.00 fine and a $100.00 special assessment. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

A trio of Mexican nationals were also convicted of re-entry into the United States, with two of the defendants being sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on June 7, 2016.

Herminio Garcia-Reyes, 26, was sentenced to time served, plus ten days, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. The arrest took place in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Hilda Mireya Ibarra-Avilez, 43, was also sentenced to time served, plus ten days, and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment, with the court ruling that Ibarra-Avilez is subject to deportation upon release from custody. Ibarra-Avilez was arrested in Powell, Wyoming.

Adrian Diaz-Angeles, 29, was sentenced by Judge Freudenthal on June 7, 2016, for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Diaz-Angeles was arrested in Laramie, Wyoming and received time served, plus ten days, and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment. Diaz-Angeles is subject to deportation upon release from custody.

Lastly, Martin Hernandez-Galacias, 32, was sentenced by Judge Johnson on June 7, 2016, for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Hernandez-Galacias, who was arrested in Jackson, Wyoming, received six months imprisonment, was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment, and is subject to deportation upon release from custody.
