ROBBERY AT GUNPOINT: HOUTSON MAN SENTENCED TO 84 MONTHS IN PRISON
In a shocking display of violence, Sebastien Moore, an 18-year-old Houston man, has been ordered to federal prison following his conviction of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, announced U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson.
Moore pleaded guilty to the charges on July 8, 2016, and was subsequently sentenced to 84 months in federal prison, with three years of supervised release following his release.
The crime took place on February 6, 2016, when Moore robbed a U.S. Postal Service (USPS) letter carrier at gunpoint. The USPS worker was placing mail in the mailboxes of a Houston apartment complex when Moore approached, pointed a firearm at the victim, and demanded their wallet.
The victim complied with Moore’s demands, handing over their wallet. Moore then made several attempts to use the letter carrier’s personal credit card, with one transaction being approved. Surveillance cameras captured Moore, wearing the same clothing worn during the robbery, attempting to use the carrier’s credit card.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service conducted the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennie Basile prosecuting the case.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Moore’s sentence is a reminder of the severe consequences of violent crimes. ‘We will continue to work tirelessly to keep our communities safe from violent offenders like Sebastien Moore,’ said U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson.
Moore’s case serves as a warning to those who would engage in similar crimes, and a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies in protecting the public.
