Shawn Manning, 45, Sentenced to 63 Months in Prison for Marijuana Conspiracy
A Davenport man has been sent to prison for his role in a marijuana distribution ring. Shawn Michael Manning, 45, was sentenced to 63 months in prison by United States District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose on June 11, 2018.
Manning was ordered to serve four years of supervised release following his prison sentence and to pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund. He pleaded guilty to the offense on February 6, 2018, admitting that he had agreed to manufacture marijuana with others in a warehouse on South Rolff Street in Davenport.
The investigation into Manning’s operation began when Davenport Police received a tip that he and others were running a marijuana grow operation at the warehouse. On December 29, 2016, law enforcement executed a search warrant and discovered a portion of the warehouse had been walled off. Officers found over 500 marijuana plants, marijuana derivative products, and materials to assist in the manufacture and packaging for sale of the marijuana.
The matter was investigated by the Davenport Police and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa. United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum announced Manning’s sentence.
Davenport Police initially received a tip about Manning’s operation in 2016, which led to the execution of the search warrant and the discovery of the marijuana grow operation. The investigation and subsequent prosecution of Manning demonstrate the dedication of law enforcement and prosecutors to combating marijuana distribution in the Quad Cities area.
Manning’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in marijuana distribution. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa will continue to work with law enforcement to identify and prosecute those involved in marijuana distribution in the region.
