Sheila Fullmer, Theft from the Mails, New York 2015

Rochester, NY – In a shocking case of bribery and corruption, Sheila Fullmer, a 60-year-old postal service employee from Caledonia, NY, was sentenced to 18 months of probation for stealing from the mails.

According to court documents, Fullmer was employed as a mail clerk at the Rochester Processing and Distribution Center, assigned to manual mail sorting area.

On October 20 and 21, 2015, law enforcement agents observed Fullmer rifling through mail and stealing gift cards and other items from the mail. The defendant was also seen using a gift card that had been reported missing by its sender.

The investigation revealed that Fullmer was in possession of approximately $600 of other stolen gift cards and cash.

The case is the result of an investigation by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Monica Weyler, Eastern Area Field Office, Philadelphia, PA.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John J. Field handled the case, stating that Fullmer’s actions were a betrayal of the public’s trust.

Fullmer’s sentencing is a significant blow to the postal service, which relies on the integrity of its employees to maintain the public’s trust.
