Pittsburgh Business Owner Indicted on Tax Charges

A 52-year-old resident of Pittsburgh, PA, has been accused of evading taxes on his business and personal income. Shelley L. Fant, the president and owner of FCG Solutions, Inc., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on 16 counts of tax evasion.

According to the indictment, from 2016 to 2018, Fant failed to collect and pay over FICA taxes to the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Section 7202. He also failed to file personal income tax returns, in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Section 7203.

The law provides for a total sentence of not more than 64 years imprisonment, a fine of not more than $3,050,000, and a special assessment of $100.00 for the 7202 counts and $25.00 for each count of 7203. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Fant’s company, FCG Solutions, Inc., is a Pittsburgh-based business. The indictment does not provide further details on the company’s operations or services.

Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
