Shoreline, WA — Jeremy Gregory, 36, was sentenced today to 15 years in federal prison for the production of child pornography, a grim end to a predatory scheme that exploited two young boys he met through youth baseball. U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes announced the sentence handed down in U.S. District Court in Seattle, where Chief U.S. District Judge Ricardo S. Martinez also ordered Gregory to serve a 20-year term of federal supervision and register as a sex offender.
Gregory, a former youth baseball umpire, had already been sentenced to five years in King County Superior Court for molesting the same two victims — then 13 and 11 years old. That state sentence will run concurrently with the federal term. Court records reveal Gregory manipulated the boys’ father, gaining trust before isolating the children and grooming them with gifts — cell phones, gift cards, and trips to amusement parks — the family couldn’t afford.
The abuse escalated quickly. Gregory offered the boys cash for sexually explicit conduct, exploiting their financial vulnerability. Many assaults happened in public restrooms near baseball fields where Gregory worked, hiding in plain sight. The crimes came to light only when the older boy finally told his father, who contacted police immediately.
A forensic search of Gregory’s home and electronic devices uncovered more than 2,000 images of child rape and molestation — a digital archive of depravity. Despite the volume of material, investigators with the King County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) have not identified additional victims beyond the two brothers.
Gregory’s physical disability — requiring the use of a wheelchair — played a role in disarming suspicion. Prosecutors noted in court filings that the father was manipulated as much as the children. “The deep emotional pain his actions have caused both victims and their father is immeasurable,” prosecutors wrote. “The victim’s father is racked with guilt for not appreciating that he was being groomed by Mr. Gregory in order to gain access to the victims for sexual gratification.”
Gregory has been in custody since his arrest in July 2015. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Cecelia Gregson, a Senior Deputy King County Prosecuting Attorney designated to handle federal child exploitation cases. The investigation underscores how predators exploit trust, community roles, and economic desperation to commit unspeakable crimes behind a mask of normalcy.
