Dominic Carbajal, a 26-year-old convicted felon from Silver City, New Mexico, has pleaded guilty to a series of violent crimes that took place between June 2024 and March 2025. The crimes, which included unlawful firearm possession, armed robbery, and a violent carjacking, left multiple victims injured and traumatized. Carbajal’s motives behind the crimes are unclear, but his actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for human life and the law.
The first incident occurred on June 25, 2024, when Silver City police officers responded to a report of a possibly armed individual at a residence. Upon arrival, they found Carbajal in possession of a loaded magazine and a stolen pistol. As a convicted felon, Carbajal was aware that he was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition, yet he chose to ignore the law.
Seven months later, on January 22, 2025, Carbajal committed an armed robbery at a local nutrition store. Surveillance footage showed him selecting merchandise and leaving without paying, then brandishing a handgun and threatening the store owner when confronted. Carbajal later admitted to using the threat of the firearm to complete the theft.
The most violent incident occurred on March 23, 2025, when Carbajal committed a carjacking in a remote parking lot. He approached a man sitting in a pickup truck, demanded the keys, and repeatedly struck the victim with his fists and a metal bar or pipe when the victim refused. Carbajal then threatened to shoot the victim, causing him to surrender his truck and personal property. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was left bleeding during the assault.
