David Ryan Linden, Grant Theft, Nevada 2024

LAS VEGAS, NV – David Ryan Linden, 35, the CEO of Silver State Health Services, LLC, is facing federal charges after a grand jury indicted him for allegedly pilfering over $340,000 in federal grant money. The funds were earmarked to provide vital healthcare services to Nevada’s most vulnerable population.

According to the indictment, Linden, while at the helm of the Las Vegas-based not-for-profit, applied for and received $735,200 from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration. The application specifically stated $735,200 would cover projected personnel costs at the health center. The grant was approved in February 2019, promising much-needed resources for indigent care.

But the money didn’t reach its intended recipients. The feds allege that just weeks after receiving the grant – on June 10, 2019 – Silver State Health Services, LLC, withdrew over $357,000. A portion of that, a staggering $340,000, was then funneled into the bank account of Freedom Infusions, LLC, a company with no connection to the grant or Silver State Health Services. Linden allegedly became a signatory on the Freedom Infusions account on June 16, 2019, paving the way for the transfer on June 24, 2019.

Where did the $340,000 go? Prosecutors claim it was used for the “benefit of others” – a vague phrase that will undoubtedly be a key point of contention at trial. This isn’t about legitimate business expenses; it’s about a calculated scheme to line someone’s pockets at the expense of those who desperately need healthcare, sources close to the investigation tell Grimy Times.

Linden’s jury trial is set to begin August 27, 2024, before United States District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years behind bars. United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson for the District of Nevada and Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans for the FBI jointly announced the indictment.

The FBI and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorneys Steven Myhre and Justin Washburne are building the case against Linden. It’s crucial to remember, as the DOJ reminds us, an indictment is merely an allegation. Linden is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. But the evidence, as laid out in the indictment, paints a damning picture of alleged greed and betrayal.
