Terrence Dockery, Gun Possession with Methamphetamine, Indiana 2024

Terrence Dockery, 33 years old from South Bend, Indiana, has been handed a decade-long sentence after being caught with firearms and methamphetamine. Judge Cristal C. Brisco of the United States District Court imposed the 100-month prison term followed by one year of supervised release.

Dockery’s downfall began on a late summer night when police stopped him during a traffic stop while he was riding his moped in South Bend. The law enforcement officers discovered two guns and approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine in Dockery’s possession.

This isn’t Dockery’s first brush with the law; he has multiple prior felony convictions, including charges for dealing methamphetamine and arson. Due to these past transgressions, Dockery was prohibited from owning a firearm, making his recent offense particularly egregious.

The investigation leading to Dockery’s conviction was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with assistance from the South Bend Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Joel Gabrielse prosecuted the case.

Dockery’s sentence is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a collaborative initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in neighborhoods across the country. The program focuses on fostering trust within communities, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting focused enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes to ensure public safety.

The Department of Justice launched an enhanced PSN strategy on May 26, 2021, emphasizing these core principles to make neighborhoods safer for all residents.
