Springdale Drug Kingpin Prince Fondren Sentenced to Over a Decade Behind Bars

FAYETTEVILLE – In a stunning reversal of fortune, Springdale’s own Prince Wayne Fondren, Jr., 43, has been sentenced to 125 months in federal prison for his role in the drug trade. The sentence, handed down by the Honorable Judge Timothy L. Brooks at the United States District Court in Fayetteville, also includes three years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

According to court documents, Fondren was apprehended on August 20, 2021, when Springdale Police Officers responded to a hit and run accident. It was there that they found Fondren passed out at the wheel of his vehicle, which was in drive mode. Further investigation revealed that Fondren was not only without a driver’s license but also a parolee with an active search waiver.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a black zippered pouch containing multiple baggies of suspected methamphetamine, totaling approximately 100.58 grams, along with pills, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The substance was later confirmed to be methamphetamine by the Homeland Security investigations Crime Laboratory.

The U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes of the Western District of Arkansas announced the sentencing, which came as a result of an extensive investigation conducted by the Springdale Police Department, the 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force (DTF), and the Fayetteville Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sydney Butler was responsible for prosecuting this high-profile case, ensuring that Fondren would face the consequences of his actions.

Fondren’s sentence sends a clear message about the government’s commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in the region. The community is now waiting with bated breath for the impact this sentencing will have on reducing drug-related crime in Springdale and beyond.
