BOSTON – Dinelson Dinzey, 35, of Springfield, has pleaded guilty to a litany of charges including conspiracy to distribute heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine, as well as money laundering and firearms offenses. The plea was entered on May 6, 2019, in federal court.
Dinzey, alongside co-defendant Nia Moore-Bush, is accused of operating a drug trafficking operation that transported and distributed narcotics from Springfield to the Barre area in Vermont. They then conspired to launder the profits through various bank accounts and even purchased an Audi vehicle with the illicit gains.
According to court documents, Dinzey also orchestrated the unlicensed dealing of firearms, including a May 5, 2017 sale that federal agents traced to individuals in Vermont and New Hampshire. Dinzey has previously been convicted of felony drug offenses in state courts.
The charges against Dinzey carry a mandatory minimum sentence of life imprisonment and fines totaling over $20 million. His sentencing is scheduled for September 4, 2019.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives played key roles in the investigation, with assistance from various law enforcement agencies.
The details contained in the indictment are allegations, and the remaining defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
