ST. LOUIS – A chilling tale of immigration violations emerges as two St. Charles County residents, Guo Liang Ye and De Jin Ye, both aged 56, find themselves indicted by a grand jury for the serious charge of harboring illegal aliens.
The pair were accused of concealing aliens from detection, fully aware that they were in the United States against the law. Their sinister actions were brought to light when they were arrested on Tuesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI.
According to legal documents, an indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, if convicted, Ye and Ye could face a severe penalty of up to 10 years in prison, along with a fine that could reach $250,000 or both penalties combined.
This case is currently under investigation by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Dianna Edwards handling the prosecution.
