Roy Christian, Marijuana Manufacturing, United States Virgin Islands 2018

St. Croix, USVI – A massive marijuana grow operation in Frederiksted was brought down after a resident was caught with over 313 marijuana plants.

A 63-year-old man, identified as Roy Christian, pleaded guilty to manufacturing marijuana in federal court on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Christian admitted to growing and selling marijuana, according to court documents.

The operation was raided on March 30, 2017, by DEA agents and officers who executed a search warrant at Christian’s residence. In addition to the marijuana plants, a large quantity of processed marijuana and U.S. currency were also seized.

Laboratory analysis confirmed that the plants were indeed marijuana, further supporting Christian’s admission. Christian now faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rhonda Williams-Henry is handling the prosecution of the case.

A sentencing date has been set for January 10, 2019, where Christian will face the consequences of his actions.

Christian’s guilty plea marks a significant blow to the marijuana trafficking scene in St. Croix. The operation was a significant one, with 313 marijuana plants seized, and it is hoped that this case will serve as a deterrent to others involved in similar activities.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office has made it clear that they will continue to pursue those involved in marijuana trafficking and other narcotics-related crimes.
