ST. LOUIS, MO – Cyrano Jones, Jr., 48, of St. Louis, is headed to federal prison for seven years after being sentenced today for running a crack cocaine operation out of his home. U.S. District Judge Ronnie White handed down the 84-month sentence, effectively removing a key player in the city’s drug trade.
Federal investigators with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) zeroed in on Jones as a significant source of crack cocaine circulating within the City of Saint Louis. The investigation revealed Jones, operating from his residence at 8980 Edna Street, wasn’t just a user – he was a supplier, actively storing and peddling the dangerous narcotic.
Court documents paint a picture of a substantial operation. Jones was linked to the distribution of between 28 and 112 grams of cocaine base (crack). But crack wasn’t all he was moving. Investigators also tied him to the distribution of 10 to 20 grams of heroin, one to 50 grams of cocaine, and a smaller amount of marijuana – less than one kilogram. This wasn’t a small-time hustle; Jones was dealing in multiple narcotics.
The DEA’s work uncovered more than just drugs. Jones also possessed two firearms connected to his criminal activity. One of those weapons, a grim detail often overlooked, was confirmed as stolen, adding another layer of seriousness to the charges. The combination of drugs and illegal firearms represents a dangerous mix on the streets of St. Louis.
The investigation and subsequent prosecution were spearheaded by the DEA, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Granger handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. This case serves as a stark reminder that federal agencies are actively working to dismantle drug trafficking networks and bring those responsible to justice. The DEA continues to target major drug suppliers in the region.
Jones’s 84-month sentence sends a clear message: dealing crack cocaine, possessing multiple narcotics, and illegally carrying firearms will not be tolerated. While one dealer is off the streets, the Grimy Times will continue to report on the ongoing fight against crime in St. Louis and beyond.”
