St. Louis Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing Guns from Police Cars

A 20-year-old man from St. Louis has pleaded guilty to stealing guns from St. Louis County police cars in 2018.

Joshua John Pollard, 20, of St. Louis, appeared in federal court before U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey and pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing stolen firearms.

According to court documents, Pollard broke the windows of two St. Louis County Police vehicles and forcefully stole multiple guns between January 12 and 30, 2018. The stolen guns included a Colt AR-15, a Remington 870 pump action shotgun, a Rock River AR-15, and a 40-caliber Glock model G23 generation 4 semi-automatic firearm.

Investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department led to Pollard’s arrest on February 1, 2018. Pollard admitted breaking into the two police vehicles and another vehicle in St. Charles, Missouri.

Colonel Jon M. Belmar, Chief of Police, praised the collaborative work between local and federal authorities in bringing a swift and successful conclusion to the investigation.

Pollard faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both on each count. Restitution to the victim is also mandatory. Sentencing has been set for October 30, 2018. In determining the actual sentences, a Judge is required to consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, which provide recommended sentencing ranges.

This case was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Tom Mehan handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
