Milton Man Handed 5-Year Sentence for Fentanyl Distribution
Burlington, Vermont – In a recent federal court sentencing, Stephen Boles, 30, of Milton Vermont, was handed a 5-year prison term to be followed by 3 years of supervised release for possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute the drug.
The case against Boles unfolded on May 18, 2022, when authorities found him in possession of over 10,000 glassine baggies of fentanyl, a CZ 9-mm pistol, and ammunition at his home in Milton. Along with the illicit substances, officers also discovered over $190,000.00 and drug packaging materials at the residence.
This was Boles’s second federal drug conviction, a fact that Judge Sessions took into consideration when imposing the 5 year sentence. However, the judge also chose to vary downward from the otherwise applicable Advisory Sentencing Guidelines in part to recognize Boles’s struggles with addiction.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office would like to extend its gratitude to the DEA and the Milton Police Department for their tireless efforts in the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugenia Cowles represented the United States, while Mark Kaplan, Esq., represented Mr. Boles in the case.
