Jazzmeek Johnson Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Vermont Cocaine and Fentanyl Trafficking

Burlington, Vermont – In a recent sentencing, Jazzmeek Johnson, 31, of Brooklyn, New York, was handed down a 60-month prison sentence for distributing controlled substances, specifically cocaine base and fentanyl.

According to court records, the investigation into Johnson began in August 2021. During the course of the investigation, Johnson sold controlled substances to a confidential informant on five separate occasions.

On May 31, 2022, Johnson sold cocaine base and fentanyl to a confidential informant in Rutland, Vermont. Johnson was arrested on July 17, 2022, during a traffic stop. Following his arrest, Johnson confessed to selling drugs out of the Highlander Motel in Rutland.

United States Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest commended the investigatory efforts of Homeland Security Investigations, Rutland City Police Department, and the Vermont State Police.

Assistant United States Attorneys Jonathan Ophardt, Corinne Smith, and Zachary Stendig handled the prosecution. Heather Ross, Esq., represented Johnson.

Jazzmeek Johnson, a Brooklyn man, has been detained since his arrest in July 2022. He must serve a 3-year term of supervised release after his release from custody.
