ALBANY, NEW YORK – A 30-year-old Albany resident has been indicted for distributing and possessing child pornography, according to a recent press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Stephen Brisee, also known as Sage Brisee, is accused of distributing videos depicting adults sexually abusing girls as young as infants. The charges in the indictment and a previous criminal complaint are mere accusations, and Brisee is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Brisee was previously ordered detained pending trial. The investigation into the case is ongoing, led by the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Buffalo Field Office.
The U.S. Attorney’s office announced the indictment, stating that Brisee faces significant penalties if convicted. He could face at least 15 years and up to 40 years in prison, as well as a fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, Brisee may be ordered to forfeit the devices used to commit the crimes and pay restitution to victims.
Brisee would also be required to register as a sex offender upon release from prison. The case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children online, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about the initiative, visit https://www.justice.gov/psc.
Brisee’s case serves as a reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the importance of continued efforts to combat these offenses. The U.S. Attorney’s office will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators to justice and protect vulnerable victims.
