A Fairfield man was convicted of a serious crime after a jury trial in U.S. District Court.
Steven Lemieux, 54, of Fairfield, Maine, was found guilty of illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.
Court records and trial evidence revealed that in December 2016, Lemieux possessed seven firearms and 784 rounds of ammunition.
He was prohibited from possessing firearms of ammunition due to a 2006 federal felony conviction for providing false information to a federal firearm licensee.
Lemieux now faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; and the Fairfield Police Department.
