STOCKTON, CA – A federal grand jury has returned a one-count indictment against Robert Jordan, 52, of Stockton, charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to court documents, Jordan was pulled over by law enforcement officers for driving without license plates on his vehicle. During the stop, officers discovered that both Jordan’s California Driver License and his vehicle’s registration were expired. What they didn’t expect to find was a loaded revolver in the center console.
Jordan is prohibited from possessing firearms due to his prior felony convictions for attempted murder and transporting a controlled substance. The case against him is the result of an investigation by the Stockton Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Hitt and Charles Campbell are prosecuting the case.
If convicted, Jordan faces a maximum statutory penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. However, any sentence would be determined at the discretion of the court after considering various factors, including the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across communities. It also aligns with Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative focusing on illegal immigration, cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime.
The charges against Jordan are only allegations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. For more information about Project Safe Neighborhoods, please visit Justice.gov/PSN.
