Jalik Shykeil Tucker, Methamphetamine Distribution, South Carolina 2023

Jalik Shykeil Tucker, 30, of Sumter, has hit rock bottom after pleading guilty to a colossal drug conspiracy in Sumter and Richland counties. The man was caught red-handed distributing massive quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine.

Columbia, SC — Tucker’s downfall began in March 2023 when the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office launched a joint investigation following leads that he was selling large loads of illegal substances. The joint effort paid off as RCSD narcotics investigators executed several undercover buys over three weeks.

With a keen eye for detail, law enforcement pinpointed two drug distribution hotspots in Sumter and one in Richland County. Search warrants were promptly secured, leading to the discovery of more than $25,000 cash, drugs, firearms, and various drug manufacturing tools. The evidence was overwhelming.

Tucker is staring down a life sentence as he faces federal charges for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and unspecified amounts of cocaine and crack cocaine. A fine of up to $10 million and a five-year term of supervision loom on the horizon.

United States District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis will sentence Tucker after reviewing his case details, which were meticulously investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon is leading the prosecution.
