SYLVANIA, OH – Thomas W. Michaelis, 69, of Sylvania, Ohio, is facing federal charges after being indicted on counts related to child pornography, the Department of Justice announced today. The indictment, unsealed earlier this week, alleges a disturbing pattern of online activity involving the exploitation of children.
According to the indictment, Michaelis allegedly received and distributed images depicting child sexual abuse between April and May of this year. The charges don’t stop there. He’s also accused of possessing and accessing websites containing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct from January through May – a clear intent to view and perpetuate this horrific abuse.
United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, Steven M. Dettelbach, confirmed the two-count indictment.
