TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – Two men from Tallahassee have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in child sex crimes, authorities said.
Shuntae Kirksey, 26, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography. Destin Banks, 32, was sentenced to 130 months in federal prison for coercing or enticing a minor to engage in prostitution.
The sentences were handed down in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida as part of Operation Stolen Innocence, a multi-agency effort to combat human trafficking in the Tallahassee area.
The investigation into Kirksey and Banks was led by the Tallahassee Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of State Attorney, Second Judicial Circuit.
Kirksey and Banks will also serve 10 years of supervised release and will be required to register as sex offenders.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Spaven prosecuted the case, which was the result of a collaborative investigation by local and federal law enforcement agencies.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida is one of 94 offices that serve as the nation’s principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General.
