Tamara Devonna McClellan Sentenced to 9 Years for Assaulting a Federal Officer
In a shocking turn of events, Tamara Devonna McClellan, 32, of Charlotte, North Carolina, has been ordered to serve 115 months in prison for assaulting a federal probation officer.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on December 20, 2019, when law enforcement attempted to detain McClellan at her residence in Charlotte. The situation escalated as McClellan got into the driver’s seat of an SUV vehicle parked on the driveway, knocking down the probation officer with the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The abandoned vehicle was later located a few blocks from the scene, and McClellan was apprehended by Deputy U.S. Marshals on December 24, 2019 in Rustburg, VA.
McClellan pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon on a federal officer in the performance of her duties, inflicting bodily injury on March 3, 2021. She is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a federal facility.
In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney William T. Stetzer thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, the U.S. Probation Office, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for their investigation of the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Gleason, of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte, prosecuted the case.
Tamara Devonna McClellan, 32, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was sentenced to serve 115 months in prison for assaulting a federal probation officer on December 20, 2019. She will also serve three years under court supervision upon completion of her prison term.
