Tamesha Parker, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Nebraska 2017

OMAHA, NE – A local woman has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to United States Attorney Joe Kelly.

Tamesha Parker, 27, of Omaha, was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge Laurie Smith Camp for her role in the crime. In addition to her prison term, Parker will serve three years of supervised release following her release from prison.

The charges against Parker stem from an incident on October 13, 2017, when dispatch received a call about two suspicious vehicles. Officers arrived and observed that one of the vehicles was running but unoccupied. An independent witness reported observing Parker operating the vehicle prior to contact with the officers.

The other vehicle had three occupants, one of whom was Parker. She initially gave officers a fictitious name, then fled when officers attempted to confront her. An inventory search was conducted of the vehicle. Officers located a purse on the passenger seat which contained a handgun.

Parker later admitted to knowing the gun was in her purse and to being a felon at the time. This case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department.

Parker’s sentencing is the culmination of years of investigation and prosecution. Her case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
