WIRE FRAUD STRIKES INDIANA: Tanisha Bledsoe, 48, of Chicago Heights, Illinois, has been brought to justice for her role in a wide-ranging scheme to commit wire fraud.

According to documents filed in the case, Bledsoe assisted in the preparation and filing of a false 2015 tax return for a client, using the internet and an online company to create and file a fabricated W-2 form in support of the false wage income on the client’s tax return. Bledsoe then filed the tax return knowing that it was false.

This was not an isolated incident, however. Bledsoe admitted to assisting in the preparation of 540 false tax returns as part of this scheme, further underscoring the scope of her criminal activity.

On January 21, 2016, Bledsoe committed her crimes in the Northern District of Indiana. Her actions have now been recognized as a serious offense, and she has been held accountable for her actions.

Tanisha Bledsoe was sentenced by United States District Court Chief Judge Jon E. DeGuilio to 37 months in prison, followed by 1 year of supervised release. Bledsoe was also ordered to pay $2,167,710 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Chang prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigative Division.
