Tanya Bui, Fentanyl Trafficking, Colorado 2021

A 24-year-old woman from Littleton, Colorado, has been sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in federal prison for her role in a fentanyl trafficking operation.

Tanya Bui pleaded guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado.

On January 27, 2021, investigators searched Bui’s Littleton residence as part of an investigation into a homicide that occurred in Denver in August 2020. The search uncovered a stash of 692 fentanyl pills, a loaded magazine, and a loaded firearm, among other items.

Bui’s social media accounts were also searched, revealing that she had used her juvenile brother to aid in distributing marijuana, fentanyl, and firearms to various customers, including juveniles.

Chief Judge Philip A. Brimmer sentenced Bui to 130 months in prison on July 15, 2022.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Denver Police Department’s Homicide Unit. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Celeste Rangel.

Bui’s sentence is a result of her ‘outrageous actions,’ including dealing drugs to juveniles, said U.S. Attorney Cole Finegan.
