Tara Nicole Shock Sentenced to 12 Months for Firearms Violation
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – In a shocking turn of events, Tara Nicole Shock, a 28-year-old resident of Rosedale, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 12 months incarceration for a firearms violation. United States Attorney Bill Powell made the announcement this week.
Shock, a person prohibited from having firearms, admitted to possessing a .40 caliber pistol and a .45 caliber pistol in August 2018 in Monongalia County. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime in the community.
According to the investigation, Shock was in possession of the firearms despite being prohibited from doing so. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Morgantown Police Department, and the Williamstown Police Department worked together to bring this case to justice.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case.
Project Safe Neighborhoods is an evidence-based program that focuses enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partners with locally based prevention and reentry programs to address violent crime in the community.
