A Galesburg woman will spend the next 16 years behind bars for her role in a methamphetamine conspiracy. Taren Coupland, 32, was sentenced to 200 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. This follows a joint investigation by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force and the Davenport Police Department Tactical Operations Bureau.
Coupland was involved in a methamphetamine conspiracy that took place from May 1, 2017, through August 3, 2017. During this time, she was responsible for distributing over 5,600 grams of ice methamphetamine. This is a staggering amount of drugs, and it’s clear that Coupland was a key player in this conspiracy.
The investigation into Coupland’s activities was a collaborative effort between the United States Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force, Davenport Police Department Tactical Operations Bureau, and the Iowa Department of Public Safety, DCI Criminalistics Laboratory. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
Coupland pleaded guilty to the charge on December 22, 2017. She will serve five years of supervised release following her term of imprisonment and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.
