CAPE GIRARDEAU – A Pemiscot County, Missouri man has been handed a 140-month sentence for selling methamphetamine to undercover drug task force officers. Davario D. Taylor, 34, of Caruthersville, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau in October to two counts of distribution of methamphetamine and one count of aiding and abetting the distribution. Taylor admitted selling a total of about 341 grams of meth to a Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force Officer working with a confidential informant.
The transactions included selling three ounces of meth for $250 an ounce on March 10, 2023, followed by another sale of three ounces on March 22, and a final sale of six ounces for $1,500 just five days later. Taylor’s criminal history includes two prior felony drug sale convictions and a prior felony conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm.
The investigation was led by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Hunter handling the prosecution. The severe sentence underscores the severity of methamphetamine distribution in the region and the commitment to combating drug trafficking.
