CHARLESTON, W.Va. – In a shocking turn of events, Taylor Womack, a 28-year-old from Charleston, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on September 7, 2020, Womack possessed a loaded FEG, Model PA-63, 9mm firearm in Amandaville. This egregious act is a clear violation of federal law, which prohibits a person with a prior felony conviction from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
Womack’s prior felony convictions for delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit delivery of a controlled substance in Wayne County Circuit Court on September 15, 2017, and for daytime burglary by breaking and entering in Kanawha County Circuit Court on October 16, 2014, left him aware of his prohibited status.
United States Attorney Will Thompson made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Womack is scheduled to be sentenced on September 14, 2023, and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
United States District Judge Irene C. Berger presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorneys Jonathan T. Storage and Monica D. Coleman are prosecuting the case.
