investiture ceremony
set for may 2
United States Attorney Kevin W. Techau is set to be sworn in on Friday, May 2, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at the federal courthouse located at 111 Seventh Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A heavy presence of law enforcement is expected, including U.S. Senators Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley, who are scheduled to attend along with other honored guests.
The ceremony will mark a significant milestone for Techau, who will be taking the reins as the top federal law enforcement official in Iowa.
In a rare move, credentialed members of the press will be allowed to use camera equipment during the ceremony, although the use of camera equipment is otherwise prohibited in the federal courthouse.
The ceremony is expected to draw a large crowd, and press credentials will be required for access to the event.
As the newly appointed U.S. Attorney, Techau will be responsible for overseeing a range of cases, including public corruption, white collar crime, and organized crime.
grimytimes will be providing live coverage of the investiture ceremony, and a full report will be published in the next edition of the newspaper.
